As well as featuring the most recent shows I attend , I will also feature past shows, of which there are many!  This month in 2008 , for my birthday on the 8th.. I went to London for a theatre weekend.. (although I don't usually need an excuse!).. Among the highlights was a performance of Joan's then new play "A Work In Progress - By A Life In Progress!".. which was due to run at the intimate Leicester Square theatre in London's west-end for selected performances from August till January ... Sadly the play only ran for one month.. but then Joan was offered a TV stint in the USA ..which was probably more lucrative for her.. Anyway I attended the performance as part of my birthday celebrations and as a hugh admirer of Joanie's.. I loved the play and with a few glasses of champagne thrown in with the ticket, not to mention a goody bag and Miss Joan herself, it was most certainly a birthday extravaganza!

JOAN with EMILY KOSLOSKI as Svetlana
Starring of course Joan as herself, the play, set in Joan's dressing room, backstage at the Oscar's, is a four-handed, part confession, part performance piece based on Joan's own eventful life and career.but all is not well as her dressing room is B.. not A! .Her cheeseboard puny not plentiful and her producer is the bigwig's nephew, not the bigwig....Also starring Emily Kosloski as Svetlana -'the well meaning but slightly incompetent make up artist!' ... Carrie Paff as Evan - 'the newly minted studio executive'... and Nathan Osgood as Kenny - 'the nepotism-blessed associate producer'...
JOAN outside LEICESTER SQUARE THEATER
Joan workshopped the play at San Francisco's Magic Theater in 2007 , before it premiered at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles in 2008...

Myself and JOAN after the show...
I really enjoyed the show, but then I love everything Joan does, whether it be her stand-up, tv and film work or her many books.. there is no denying Joan is one of showbiz's hardest working ladies and she is always worth the price of admission and I look forward to following even more of her progression!..
